Saint-Janvier, Quebec: On January 16, 1980, the body of a man completely frozen and fully dressed was found by police officers patrolling on montee Saint-Victor, in Saint-Janvier. Gerald Lapierre, a man in his fifties, had been shot and killed.

The victim used to go to various licensed establishments in Montreal, including the Barachais. The last person who saw the victim alive was a waitress at that bar.
